Abu has extensive experience working with clients diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and autism. his goal as a psychologist is to help his clients grow and thrive by overcoming behaviorally related problems and life challenges.
He specializes in working with young adults who are learning to cope and adjust to new life challenges. There isn’t a magic guidebook that teaches young adults how to balance school/career, family obligations, and their personal lives. This process is naturally stressful, and young adults shouldn’t blame themselves for feeling anxious or depressed. his job is to offer expert support and guidance, based on the individual needs of the client. He is trained to be sensitive to the socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds of all clients. He is confident in working with BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) and clients who identify as LGBTQ+. Additionally, he is trained to understand client conflict in relation to social and family contexts. bringing a non-judgmental and open atmosphere to his therapy sessions. His counseling style utilizes techniques from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Focusing on helping clients develop insight into the source of their conflict, and to provide practical skills they can then apply to meet life challenges. Through therapy, his clients build confidence, autonomy, and well-being.
While counseling should be effective, it doesn’t have to be dry and boring! He brings joy and humor to his sessions. Therapy can be uplifting when we move beyond beating ourselves up. He aims for clients to feel more empowered, joyful, and resilient after each session.
He takes this attitude towards his own life and finds things to be joyful about. He enjoys eating at restaurants and then trying to cook and imitate his favorite dish. He enjoys watching Netflix and anime, and also enjoys reading books, comics, and Webtoons. He especially enjoys playing board games and video games, or just hanging out and relaxing with a close group of friends.
If his therapeutic style vibes with you, please consider contacting him. He looks forward to working with you =)

My therapist at Happier Living is amazing. I’ve worked with five different therapists over the past decade, and this therapist is the only one I have connected with. Front desk staff is friendly and attentive. The office itself is bright, cheery, and well-designed. Parking is fairly easy for West Hollywood. I highly recommend Happier Living.
