Video chat with me.

Dr. Sandler is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

He is board certified in Pediatrics, General Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, completed a pediatric internship and a year of pediatric residency at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, and then completed his pediatric residency requirements with a fellowship in Child Mental Health and Comprehensive Care at Children’s Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle. Following two years of military service as an Air Force pediatrician at Clark AFB in the Republic of the Philippines, he returned to the LA County-USC Medical Center, joined the USC Medical Faculty, completed a Fellowship in Ambulatory Pediatrics, obtained an MPH degree in Maternal and Child Health, and then, feeling, perhaps, like a psychiatrist in a pediatrician’s body, re-entered residency and completed his psychiatry training at UCLA where he currently serves on the voluntary faculty as Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry.

Dr.Sandler has always maintained a dual “public/private” mix in his work with a private practice in the San Fernando Valley and public practice as Medical Director at the Santa Clarita Valley Child and Family Center, a private non-profit community mental health center serving indigent families in that area of Los Angeles County.

Dr. Sandler, given his “bio-psycho-social” training background, believes that the “recipe” for the disorders we treat has many ingredients, that the recipe varies from individual to individual, that one treatment, therefore, cannot “fit all,” and that treatment should be practical emphasizing comfort, good function, and happier living.
