Alicia Maria Barrs (preferred name Logan) holds a Bachelor of Science from Jacksonville State University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama. She holds numerous certifications: Mindfulness, Brainspotting, EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Gottman I and II, and Motivational Enhancement Therapy.

Barrs finds somatic practices such as Brainspotting and EMDR highly effective. She uses an integrated approach with the best evidence-based practices available and strives to always stay on the cutting edge of the field so that she can offer her clients the best that is available.

Her favorite type of counseling is trauma recovery and she has vast experience in this field. She has worked extensively in all areas of trauma recovery with adults and older adolescents. Also, she has experience with military, law enforcement and first responders.

Barrs grew up moving many times as she was the child of a naval officer. This afforded her the opportunity to engage with a variety of cultures. Her father experienced the effects of alcoholism and military service and never got mental health help. Seeing the effects of this and her natural desire to help people drew her to the counseling field.

When she isn’t working, Barrs likes to travel, spend time with her adorable puppies and wonderful husband. She also enjoys fine dining, Alabama football, painting, reading, meeting people from other cultures, camping, and hiking.
