Ms. Allise Esquivel is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of California and New York.

Ms. Esquivel graduated from California Baptist University (2013) and obtained her CA license in 2017 and NY license in 2020. First, she would like to say congratulations on taking the first step to feel better. Therapy is scary and can be nerve-wracking. It is important for Allise to establish a safe and trusting environment for you. Her approach is non-judgmental and welcoming of all emotions and feelings. Finding the right therapist is an important part of your therapeutic journey. Allise’s main priority is you. Once the two of you establish a partnership, you will never feel like you are going through this alone.

A little about her clinical experience, she worked in the educational system (head start program and high school), addressing academic-performance-related concerns. Allise has worked with parents of children who have disabilities and/or mental health challenges. She has also worked in residential settings, providing treatment to adults and older adults with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges. More recently, I provided mental health counseling to incarcerated adolescents and young adults who are transitioning back into the community. Additionally, she provides mental health services to adults through various online platforms and has been practicing psychotherapy since 2012. Over that time, Allise worked with a broad spectrum of disorders and life challenges. To name a few, she has supported individuals diagnosed with mild depression and adjustment challenges to Individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorders.

Allise’s therapeutic approach and orientation are specific and tailored to your needs. She uses Client-Centered Therapy for the purpose of reflective listening and responding to your needs. She also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as she believes the first step to feeling better is to be mindful of how we think and how we react. It is important to become self-aware and challenge our irrational selves. In addition, Allise applies Solution Focused Therapy if brief therapy is appropriate. Solution Focused Therapy provides attention to the goal and avoids the use of the term “problem” to maintain eyesight on the goal at hand. Therapy will only be as effective as you allow it to be. She is committed to helping you, supporting you, and working with you, until you feel better.

Things that make Allise happy are spending time outside with her fur baby and my husband. She enjoys a long walk/run with a scenic view. Spending time with family and friends is her greatest joy. Whether that is watching scary movies or going out to brunch! She is a sports fanatic! Baseball and Football specifically. There’s just something about going out to a game, in your team’s gear, and cheering them on!
