Video chat with me.

Ms. Allise Esquivel is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the states of California and New York.

I graduated from California Baptist University (2013) and obtained my Ca license in 2017 and my NY license in 2020. First, I would like to say congratulations on taking the first step to feel better. Therapy is scary and can be nerve-wracking. It is important for me to establish a safe and trusting environment for you. My approach is non-judgmental and welcoming of all emotions and feelings. Finding the right therapist is an important part of your therapeutic journey. My main priority is you. Once we establish a partnership, you will never feel like you are going through this alone.

A little about my clinical experience, I have worked in the educational system (head start program and high school), addressing academic-performance related concerns. I have worked with parents of children who have disabilities and/or mental health challenges. I have also worked in residential settings, providing treatment to adults and older adults with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges. More recently, I provided mental health counseling to incarcerated adolescents and young adults who are transitioning back into the community. Additionally, I also provide mental health services to adults through various online platforms and have been practicing psychotherapy since 2012. Over that time, I have worked with a broad spectrum of disorders and life challenges. To name a few, I have supported Individuals diagnosed with mild depression and adjustment challenges to Individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorders.

My therapeutic approach and orientation are specific and tailored to your needs. I use Client-Centered Therapy for the purpose of reflective listening and responding to your needs. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as I believe the first step to feeling better is to be mindful of how we think and how we react. It is important to become self-aware and challenge our irrational selves. In addition, I apply Solution Focused Therapy if brief therapy is appropriate. Solution Focused Therapy provides attention to the goal and avoids the use of the term “problem” to maintain eyesight on the goal at hand. Therapy will only be as effective as you allow it to be. I am committed to helping you, supporting you, and working with you, until you feel better.

Things that make me happy are spending time outside with my fur baby and my husband. I enjoy a long walk/run with a scenic view. Spending time with family and friends is my greatest joy. Whether that is watching scary movies or going out to brunch! I am a sports fanatic! Baseball and Football specifically. There’s just something about going out to a game, in your team’s gear, and cheering them on!
