Ms. Amanda Walton is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas.
Ms. Walton received her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Houston and graduate degree in Professional Counseling at Texas Wesleyan University. She has worked in the mental health field for the past 13 years.
Amanda began her career working with children and teens using play and art therapy. This proved to be a valuable time in her career, as she often incorporates these modalities into sessions. For the past 6 years, she has worked at a hospital system in Indiana providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy. She was the supervisor of the Adult Outpatient Program. Her experience ranges from helping others through life adjustments to severe mental health diagnoses.
Everyone possesses tools to overcome any challenge in life and there are times we all need help finding the key to our toolbox. With all the hurdles life throws, we can be left feeling hopeless, leaving us to forget the tools that have helped us through past obstacles. To help individuals and families overcome these life challenges, Amanda uses a strengths-based approach and other evidence-based approaches to help individuals and families reclaim their fortitude in life. Amanda has extensive training in Solution Focused, Narrative, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies.
Throughout her career, she has specialized in severe psychosis, mood disorders, and substance use. She also has experience helping others through interpersonal relationships using Gottman Method.
Amanda emphasizes self-care as an important part of her practice that helps to renew the mind and soul. Her self-care Is spent with family and enjoying the outdoors with her beloved dogs Nyx and Dot.
