Amenaghawon Ugwuede received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Loma Linda University and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), from Rush University.

Dr. Ugwuede grew up in California. She is passionate both about the mental health of first and second generation children of immigrants and that of the Black community due to her own experience during her youth and into adulthood.

Since her undergraduate education, she has had an interest in psychiatry. It is when she learned that many people have experienced mental illness.

Dr. Ugwuede’s goal is to reduce the stigma around mental health through her clinical practice.
She values patient-centered care and creating a therapeutic alliance with her patients to work collaboratively in order to create optimal treatment plans.

Each person is much more than their diagnosis. With a combination of medication and therapy, they can achieve a better quality of life.

When she isn’t working, Dr. Ugwuede enjoys reading, teaching, art, and home decorating.
