Dr. Ivan D. Lopez is a multicultural, multilingual Adult Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.
He graduated Medical School and afterward attended Harvard University on a Research Fellowship in Neuroimaging, and then completed his Psychiatry Residency, and Doctorate Research Courses in Substance Abuse in Madrid, Spain. He took a further MSc in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, London, U.K. He interned in Psychiatry at the Beth Israel Medical School, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in NYC and graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He worked as the Child and Adolescent Medical Director and with Bilingual Spanish Speaking populations throughout the USA in Community Psychiatry, and Private Practice. He has published papers and has been in teaching positions and is a member of the British Association of Psychotherapy.
Dr. Lopez believes in the evidence-based healing of the human mind, its resilience, and endurance in which clients participate in the partnership, in the positive effect of the outcomes, and acquiring learning tools, to utilize in their long-term maintenance and wellbeing. He is interested in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the effects of social isolation, grief, and acute stress disorder, especially how it relates to the flare-up in the Anxiety produced by the current Covid-19 pandemic.
He believes in a stressful free balanced lifestyle to maintain the role of a health provider. He is happy traveling with family, loves Jazz, and listening to his son’s University radio show. He collects pre-Colombian artifacts and is a mean Salsa dancer!
