Dr. Jeffrey Gruhler, MD is a Board-Certified psychiatrist based in New York. With an extensive educational background, Dr. Gruhler received his BA in Modern European History from Brown University and pursued his MD from St. George’s University School of Medicine. After completing his Anesthesiology Residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, he realized his true passion lies in Psychiatry. Subsequently, he completed his Psychiatry Residency at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College, where he was Chief Resident.

Dr. Gruhler is compassionate, tenacious, adaptable, and even-keeled. He believes that forging a strong therapeutic alliance based on mutual trust and respect is the key to improving mental health. His treatment approach involves employing cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy to get clients optimized as expeditiously as possible. Dr. Gruhler and his clients will work together to create a personalized plan that includes thought and gratitude journals and other techniques that help them become their best, psychologically-minded selves.

Dr. Gruhler’s interest in psychiatry began in childhood, where he was raised by psychologically-minded parents and fostered a love for books. Dr. Gruhler’s professional mantra is “ancora imparo” or “I am always learning,” which motivates him to stay up to date with the latest advances in psychiatry and psychology. Dr. Gruhler’s outside interests include traveling the world, immersing himself in other cultures, and watching Netflix, the Tennis Channel, soccer, and football. He enjoys reading The New Yorker and spending time with his family and pets.
