Katy is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and recently moved to California from New York City. She received her master’s degree from New York University and worked in an outpatient setting in Manhattan treating adults, teenagers and children. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner she worked as a psychiatric nurse on an inpatient unit for 8 years.
Katy’s approach to treatment involves combining evidence-based psychopharmacology with a systemic and psychodynamic therapeutic approach. Her goal is to help clients gain a better understanding of themselves and their lives through a therapeutic lens, with components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to enhance their therapeutic experience. Her areas of clinical interest include depression, anxiety disorders, borderline personality disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She works with individuals and families.
Outside of work, Katy enjoys spending time with her husband and young son. She has been taking advantage of the warm California weather by hiking and going to the beach.

Happier Living was a lifesaver for me today. By some miracle I was able to see Dr. Schwartz at the last minute today to help with some pretty big changes in my life recently. She was very kind, attentive, a true professional, but also very fun and relatable!
