Ms. Kedest Gebreselassie is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurses Practitioners as well as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Ms. Gebreselassie began her training at George Mason University in Virginia, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She went on to get her Master of Science in Nursing from Marymount University and received a Post-Master’s certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Shenandoah University in Virginia.
Kedest is passionate about providing quality, and comprehensive mental health services to adolescents and adults. Kedest possesses strong clinical skills enhanced by a natural ability to build rapport with patients. She follows evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition. Kedest’s passions in healthcare include decreasing the generational stigma attached to mental health, improving access to mental health care, and empowering patients to fully engage in their mental health. Her expertise lies in using CBT-style psychotherapy to treat depression and anxiety along with medication management.
For over 15 years, Kedest has cared for pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients in a variety of settings, including in-patient hospitals, and out-patient practices. She has dedicated much of her nursing career to working with individuals with mental health care needs, which was inspired while working as a family nurse practitioner. Kedest has always enjoyed helping people and finds her work very rewarding.
Outside of work, Kedest loves to travel, enjoy the outdoors, read and listen to music. She can be found most weekends and evenings finding adventures with her family, or volunteering with her church.
