Kimberly Roelands holds Associate of Arts degrees in Communications and Social Science from West Valley College, a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from UC Berkeley, and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with Marriage and Family Therapy and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from Santa Clara University.
She typically uses a combination of modalities when working with clients as she finds that not all clients work well with one specific therapeutic frame. People are unique so their therapeutic work should flex with their unique way of being.
Roelands grew up in a suburb of Washington, D.C. as the youngest child of two middle-class, working parents. Her siblings were all quite a bit older. She had neighborhood friends and school friends with a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, but she was more interested in similar interests than cultural differences. The separation and divorce of her parents had a strong impact on her view of relationships and family. She believes the events that most shaped her professional interests are a combination of lived experiences and a natural curiosity and need to be of service.
Through her personal experience, Roelands learned the benefits of personal therapy and how change happens. Her work experience has been in a help capacity, which translated into her current career. Being a therapist allows her to facilitate growth in others as well as enriching her life with what she learns from her clients. She finds the ability to serve and support others to lead more fulfilling lives challenging and motivating.
Roelands believes that all people have the potential for change and can experience self-improvement toward a happier way of living and more fulfilling relationships.
When not working, she likes to spend time with friends. Growing up, she was into all kinds of games, including board games. She has a group of friends with whom she regularly gets together for game nights. When she is by herself, she enjoys reading a variety of book genres, watching her favorite TV shows, and watching learning channels. She enjoys learning about other cultures and traveling.

I cannot say enough good things about everyone I have met and dealt with at Happier Living. My clinician has been exceptionally caring and good in relation to the problem I came in here with. She has been very sensitive and effective to helping me come to terms and try to solve the present problem.
