Dr. Lindsay Israel-Gaines, MD, is a Board-Certified specialist in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Israel was born and raised in South Florida. As the daughter of a primary care physician, Dr. Israel has been privy to the profound satisfaction that comes from caring for patients. Witnessing her father’s dedication, she was inspired to embark on her own journey in medicine, creating a legacy of care and compassion. Lindsay pursued her MD at the University of Florida and then further completed her General Psychiatry Residency, followed by an intensive Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship.
Dr. Israel’s draw to psychiatry is deeply personal and profound. Unlike other fields of medicine, psychiatry provides her with the unique opportunity to truly converse with her patients. Rather than just relying on lab values, Dr. Israel places immense value on understanding her patient’s narrative, believing that this approach not only aids in accurate assessment and diagnosis but also facilitates a collaborative treatment process. This methodology empowers patients, allowing them to reclaim control and actively participate in their therapeutic journey.
At the heart of her treatment approach lies the foundation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Dr. Israel emphasizes the critical importance of CBT in managing conditions like depression and anxiety. Ensuring that every session integrates some form of CBT, she strives for optimal outcomes for her patients. Dr. Israel prides herself on her role as a Listener, Educator, and advocate of honesty and creativity. One of her foremost aims is to present her patients with multiple safe and viable options, empowering them to take an active role in the decision-making process.
The ever-evolving nature of psychiatry, with its rapid advancements in evidence-based treatments and groundbreaking research, continually fuels Dr. Israel’s passion. She relishes the learning process, always staying abreast with the latest findings to ensure the best care for her patients.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Israel’s life is rich with personal anecdotes and passions. A performer at heart, she has always been enchanted by the arts, whether it’s singing, dancing, or playing the piano. When not in the clinic, you might find her lending her voice to bands or experimenting with culinary delights in her kitchen. She cherishes the moments she spends traveling with her high school sweetheart-turned-husband and their two teenage sons.

My therapist at Happier Living is amazing. I’ve worked with five different therapists over the past decade, and this therapist is the only one I have connected with. Front desk staff is friendly and attentive. The office itself is bright, cheery, and well-designed. Parking is fairly easy for West Hollywood. I highly recommend Happier Living.
