Lisa Shelton holds a Master of Science in Human Services Counseling from National Louis University and a Master of Science in Psychology from Capella University.

Her vision and purpose are to increase awareness of addiction and mental health while educating about healthy relationships, conflict resolution, the development of strategies and coping skills to improve the overall quality of one’s life.

Shelton was born and raised in Lake County. She had a vision and recognized a need for her community. The question she asked was, “How can I help and what can I do?” She thought to herself, “I was not gifted with education and experience to do nothing.” She started her private practice in 2012 and added quality of service to the community and organizations.

Her passion is to serve those individuals, couples and families who struggle with substance abuse, mental health and life issues that others may not understand. She specializes in working with women, trauma focus and grief.

Lisa has 26 years of experience working as an Addiction/Mental Health Therapist serving populations including; adult men/women, adolescents, dual diagnosis and correctional populations. She has training and experience with counseling sexual assault survivors, Gender-Responsive Treatment, trauma, domestic violence, Anger Management, Cognitive Intervention (CGIP), Motivational Interviewing (Ml)\, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and families dealing with addiction, gambling addiction and crisis intervention.

She has a passion for what she does and she loves serving others. She is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Education at Northcentral University.

When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and exercising.
