Lori McClain received her Master of Science in Nursing from Charles R Drew University with a specialty in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Lifespan).

She believes that the most important thing is to listen; clients aren’t there to hear stories about their practitioners. She is also a big believer in: “One size doesn’t fit all.” McClain remembers learning about CBT and initially being very skeptical of it. But after years of study and understanding, she is convinced of its value and has experienced the benefits of it.

McClain was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and lived there until she was about five years old. She then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, with her adoptive parents. Being biracial and not considered “American” as a kid was ostracizing. This experience encouraged her to remember to be inclusive and not to treat anyone differently or negatively based on the way they appear.

She loves what she does and knew she was “home” the moment she started in the field. She makes no judgments about people and the choices they make.

When she isn’t working, she loves to travel solo internationally. She loves new adventures, food, and learning new things. She enjoys celebrating her life, living, learning, and loving in the moment.
