Utilizing a strengths-based approach with every client is imperative in her work as a clinician. It is her desire that clients begin to understand that each and every one of them has potential; limitations do not define a person. Being able to support the community and help people break generational traumas and patterns while providing a safe space to process difficult conversations is part of what keeps Covarrubias working in the field.
As a visually impaired individual, it has always been her desire and passion to provide support, empathy, and understanding to diverse populations who struggle with mental health issues and/or that deal with accepting their own physical/learning disabilities along with other challenges with which life presents them.
Covarrubias is a young Latina from parents who immigrated from Mexico. She was born and raised in Los Angeles County. In her youth, sheI struggled with expressing her thoughts and feelings in relation to her physical disability but always knew that she wanted and needed the support to process her challenges. Encountering additional stressors as an adolescent and young adult motivated her even more to get into a profession that helped people address their challenges and barriers in life. She wanted to be the person who she needed as a youth for other individuals struggling to talk about and process stressors and traumas in their own lives.
When she isn’t working, she enjoys listening to audibles and podcasts that inspire her to be a better person everyday. She also enjoys spending quality time with significant friends and family members.

My clinician was quite a surprise. Though she was very professional, she genuinely was interested in me and made me feel like I was the only person that matters. That’s a first for me. She is extremely intelligent, and I know I am getting the best treatment for my needs.
