Melanie Clark is a Licensed Professional Counsellor providing care to clients in the state of Texas. She graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Master’s in Counseling and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Houston.
Melanie was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up in several cities in Louisiana and moved back to Texas as a teenager. Having so much transition, especially during important life stages, led her to experiencing emotional struggles which gave her an element of relatability to others in similar situations.
What initially drew Melanie to this field was her love for working with families and helping them work through trauma during her time working as a caseworker for Child Protective Services. Melanie realized that she enjoyed being an emotional support for the children and their parents, and decided to make a career of it. The desire to understand emotions and how the mind works led Melanie to pursue a degree in Psychology, and subsequently a degree in Counseling.
Melanie describes herself as trustworthy, caring, and resilient. She is open minded and places value on the effects of healthy communication. She believes that it is not her role as a therapist to give answers or tell clients what to do, rather it’s to help guide her client’s thought process to the healthiest decisions for their desired outcomes of treatment.
The outcomes and feedback from clients on how much better they feel and the improvements they make after engaging in therapy keeps her motivated to continue helping them in their goals.
In her spare time, Melanie enjoys reading, listening to music, shopping, and doing anything creative such as painting or decorating.
