Biography

Missy Simpson, MFT
Marriage & Family Therapist

Missy Simpson is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English from Westmont College. Missy went on to complete her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. She pursued post-graduate training in EMDR Treatment, which she often uses in addition to Talk Therapy (also known as psychotherapy). Though she uses EMDR to process trauma and abuse, she has found that EMDR Treatment can also help clients without a history of trauma, to get “unstuck” when they feel trapped in unhealthy behaviors and to tackle negative thoughts, anxiety, etc. that have made life and their relationships more difficult. Her training includes working with individual adults of all ages who are struggling with a wide range of issues including but not limited to: anxiety, self-esteem issues, relationship problems, social problems, communication issues, anger management, stress management, grief, loss, chronic pain, psychosomatic disorders, and adult survivors of childhood abuse.

As a clinical therapist, she is experienced in motivating, supporting, and encouraging clients as they work together to find the roots of the problem, process the underlying issues, and develop a plan to overcome current obstacles to progress. Missy uses an eclectic, holistic approach to therapy, tailoring each client’s treatment according to their individual needs to support them in their healing process. She creates a peaceful and compassionate environment in therapy to help clients feel safe so they can open up about their struggles and benefit from the healing nature of the therapeutic relationship.
