Ms. Ramona Clifton is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Louisiana.

I provide therapy for adult and adolescent clients who experience issues related to depression, anxiety, ADHD, substance use disorder, gambling disorder, history of traumatic events, tobacco use disorder, self-esteem issues, job-related stress, school-related stress, career choices, marital or family issues, eating disorders, and difficulty coping with stress. I also work with clients who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.

During the therapy process, I utilize a combination of theoretical practices including a client-centered approach; which allows you to take an active role in treatment. While I listen, without judging or interpreting what you say, but instead restating in your words, so that we achieve a full understanding of your thoughts and feelings. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is another technique that I practice, now this is a form of talk therapy, which is used to treat clients with a wide range of behavioral health problems and assist them in developing alternative ways of thinking to change the behavior which is causing you distress. Additionally, I have found that motivational interviewing; which is a collaborative conservation between therapist and client, strengthens our own motivation and commitment to change, thus this is a technique I exercise frequently.

Also, please know that I offer a non-judgmental, supportive atmosphere. I believe that everyone is different and responds to situations differently; therefore, each person deserves individualized counseling. My perspective is one that is optimistic as I believe that everyone can change. Sometimes situations that are beyond our control cannot be changed, but feelings, reactions, and behaviors about the situations can be changed. I treat everyone with dignity, respect, and care – and I am here to listen, because how effective can I be if I am not actively listening.

Reaching out for help is most often the hardest part of healing. I look forward to taking the journey with you from reaching out for help in making the changes that you desire and deserve – so that you can be a happier and healthier you.
