Dr. Sherry Kostman is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois and South Carolina.
Dr. Kostman earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Adler School. Dr. Kostman was also a former advertising executive who is familiar with the challenges associated with balancing a business life and a personal life. Dr. Kostman moved to South Carolina from her native town of Chicago Illinois in 2016 where she has been working with an integrated team of physicians and nurse practitioners providing coordinated medical and mental health for patients with chronic medical conditions in hospital and post-acute settings.
Dr. Kostman’s interests and experience include working with adults and the elderly. Dr. Kostman strongly believes that every individual has an innate desire to have a purpose in life and to move forward. Dr. Kostman uses humor, compassion, and wisdom to help clients move forward in therapy. She believes that successful therapy occurs when the client develops purpose and moves forward. Dr. Kostman has experience in cognitive-behavioral therapy, Adlerian psychotherapy, addictions, coping with chronic medical conditions, and managing life transitions. She has developed behavioral interventions to complement the medical management of chronic conditions, as well as in treating mood, anxiety, and adjustment disorders (particularly those related to adjustment to changes in health status).
Dr. Kostman is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the South Carolina Psychological Association (SCPA). Dr. Kostman is also a Certified Case Manager through the Commission for Case Management Certification (CCMC).
In her free time, Dr. Kostman finds happiness spending time with her two daughters and grandchildren. Dr. Kostman loves to go on walks with her Border Collie “Angus” and enjoys high-intensity interval training to keep herself fit and active.
