Mrs. Sonja Fisher-Carrington is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (License #77145) who is fluent in Spanish and has been practicing therapy for the last 10 years.

Mrs. Fisher-Carrington earned her Master of Arts degree in Art Therapy at Notre Dame de Namur University.

Sonja works with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She believes therapy should be a respectful collaborative environment, where people can feel safe enough to take risks, be authentic and make lasting changes. She works to explore with her clients the many dynamics that may inadvertently contribute to a problem cycle so clients can feel empowered to act in more preferred ways of being. Sonja feels comfortable working with many different backgrounds and diagnoses, including challenging behaviors such as cutting and eating disorders.

She is the sole breadwinner to her family, which consists of a wife and 2 precious little boys. Sonja helps clients establish a self-care routine, and practices what she enjoys such as being outdoors, gardening, baking, going to the movies, and trying ethnic foods, most recently Ethiopian. She prefers science fiction movies and shows, her favorite is the Alien trilogy and Lost in Space on Netflix. Sonja enjoys spending time with those she loves most, including her 3 rescue dogs, Gia, Mr. Licky, and Pixie. She is a Sacramento native but travels to the Bay Area monthly to visit family.

Sonja is trained in Art Therapy and also practices Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She is trained to deal with trauma and wrote a grant for graduate school on how to help those in need come out with the support of art therapy. Sonja believes as a therapist she is more of a coach to cheer you on and help give you an objective view. You have all the answers you need to overcome your struggles, you just need someone to help point them out.

Sonja looks forward to working with you.
