Ms. Terri Belanger is an Advanced Practice Nurse and a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist in the state of Florida.

Ms. Belanger earned her Master of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island, her home state. She started her career as an RN working in hospitals until 2000 when she decided to go back to school and focus her education on helping people with mental illness. She prescribes psychiatric medication but her passion is in combining this knowledge with her therapy skills.

The majority of her practice was completed in RI as she has only lived in Florida for the past couple of years. While in RI she cared for many different clients over her years of practice in a children’s psychiatric hospital, a psychiatric group home, several outpatient mental health clinics, nursing homes & assisted living facilities, and lastly, as the state’s only psychiatric hospital, Eleanor Slater Hospital. There, she cared for clients from many different walks of life, ages, many court-ordered for treatment while others were there for many years due to the seriousness of their illnesses. She found this work both challenging and rewarding, especially when she was able to work as part of a team and see a client leave the hospital for a less restrictive environment.

She moved to Florida to be closer to her family, most of them live about an hour from her and she now has a dog. She adopted a black lab mix puppy who only has three legs and named her Cali. She loves people and brings her great happiness. She enjoys her neighbors and the fun community that she is a part of. She enjoys swimming and attends a water aerobics class twice a week when she can.
