Ms. Tianna Burroughs is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Ms. Burroughs received her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development/Family Studies and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University in 2009.
Tianna has worked in a variety of clinical settings including: home-based, schools, youth shelters, and inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. She has over 5 years of experience working with individuals of all ages and a wide array of challenges. Some of these challenges include depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, substance abuse, divorce, parenting struggles, and crisis stabilization. Growing up in an impoverished area of northern Indiana, Tianna experienced or witnessed many of these issues first hand, which helps her have a greater sense of understanding and empathy for her clients and this is also what led her down this career path.
Tianna’s style is warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental, but she is also honest and direct with clients. She believes her clients are the experts in their lives and determine the direction and depth of therapy. Using strength-based and solution-focused approaches, she hopes to draw out a deeper understanding of the challenges her clients face while guiding them to find the solutions by building on the skills, knowledge, and abilities they often don’t know they have. Tianna uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist clients in learning how their thoughts influence their feelings and behaviors, often keeping them from achieving the progress they hope for. She also believes in the benefits of mindfulness and breathing exercises to help with regulating emotions. She values the feedback from clients and encourages them to let her know if something is not working for them.
On a personal level, Tianna has taken several years off to stay home with her twins and also raise her teenage niece. They have moved frequently due to her husband’s career who also works in mental health. In addition to Indiana, they have also lived in Texas and now Tennessee, where she enjoys outdoor adventures, yoga, and interior design in her free time. They also have a cat, dog, and hamster who keep them very busy!

Happier Living was a lifesaver for me today. By some miracle I was able to see Dr. Schwartz at the last minute today to help with some pretty big changes in my life recently. She was very kind, attentive, a true professional, but also very fun and relatable!
