Ms. Valarie McKnight is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in the State of Ohio.
Ms. McKnight obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2004 and her Master of Education degree in Community Agency Counseling in 2009 from Cleveland State University (CSU). She completed her post-graduate certificate training in Chemical Dependency from CSU in 2010.
Over the past 11+ years, Ms. McKnight has provided individual and group counseling in various settings including schools, agencies, and hospitals. She enjoys working with individuals on their journey to gain increased self-understanding while learning tools to manage their illnesses. She has a collaborative approach to treatment and utilizes evidence-based treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational techniques.
Ms. McKnight realized that it can be a difficult decision to engage in treatment and she is humbled by the opportunity to be present for your journey. She strives to build the therapeutic relationship from the onset which she believes is essential for a successful patient experience.
Ms. McKnight is the proud mother of two adult sons. They enjoy spending time together traveling, cooking, and just hanging out. She also enjoys volunteering when possible, reading, spending time with friends, and shopping. Valarie is an avid shoe collector…but who’s counting!
