Alice Andres is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a National Health Service Psychologist, deeply committed to fostering wellness and personal growth. She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and Bachelor's degrees in Spanish and Psychology with Honors from The University of Missouri-Columbia.
Alice's journey into psychology was sparked by her college counselor, who introduced her to the transformative power of mindfulness. This experience, combined with her realization that she could leverage her bilingual skills to help a broader audience, propelled her towards becoming a therapist. She is particularly passionate about utilizing her expertise as an OCD and Anxiety treatment specialist, a skill honed at the Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute's Center for OCD and Anxiety-Related Disorders (COARD) clinic.
Alice was always recognized as a great listener, a trait that has undoubtedly shaped her empathetic approach to therapy. Additionally, Alice's passion for Spanish and connecting with diverse cultures led her to travel extensively, visiting over 15 countries and developing a keen sensitivity to multicultural issues. This global perspective informs her sensitivity to cultural differences, stigma, and the importance of community in the healing process.
Alice views therapy as a collaborative process, valuing client feedback and striving to align treatment with what clients value most. She believes strongly in the integration of therapeutic activities within and beyond therapy sessions. Her approach is holistic, emphasizing mind-body awareness, creativity, social connection, and spiritual fulfillment. Drawing heavily on third-wave cognitive-behavioral approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Alice focuses on accepting difficult emotions, being present, and living in alignment with one's values.
Outside the therapy room, Alice is an ardent practitioner and teacher of yoga. Her interests span playing the flute, creating art, enjoying the outdoors, and cherishing time with her family and dogs. These pursuits not only bring balance to her life but also enrich her therapeutic approach, embodying the holistic wellness she promotes.
