Dr. Kwadwo "David" Asamoah-Duodu, PsyD, is a compassionate and dedicated Clinical Psychologist who takes pride in supporting individuals on their journey toward healing and personal growth. With a deep understanding of human behavior, David offers a strength-based, trauma-informed, and multicultural approach to therapy, helping clients navigate life’s challenges and move toward value-based living.
David earned his Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University, following his undergraduate studies at Tufts University, where he majored in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies. His educational background, combined with his lived experiences as a first-generation American of West African descent, has shaped his empathetic and holistic approach to psychological care.
David’s passion for psychology stems from his early experiences growing up in the inner city, where he witnessed the impact of violence and addiction firsthand. Even without formal training at the time, he intuitively recognized the complex factors influencing human behavior. This realization sparked a lifelong commitment to understanding and addressing the psychological needs of individuals and communities. Through his work, David nurtures a deep sense of compassion for those facing challenges and strives to empower them with the tools needed to achieve positive change.
David firmly believes that therapy is a collaborative process, where clients are the experts of their own experiences. He seeks to create a safe, supportive space where open and honest communication fosters personal growth. By working together, he helps his clients establish individualized roadmaps that guide them from their current challenges to their desired goals. His approach emphasizes the importance of cultural sensitivity and inclusivity, ensuring that each client’s unique background and experiences are honored in the therapeutic process.
Remaining motivated in his work, David understands that while therapy may not change all the external conditions that contribute to a client’s difficulties, it has the power to reduce suffering and empower individuals to live fulfilling and meaningful lives. For David, making a positive impact in one life creates a ripple effect that can extend into families, communities, and beyond.
Outside of his professional work, David finds joy and rejuvenation in reading, writing, volunteering, and spending quality time with his family. His Christian faith plays an integral role in his life and informs his commitment to serving others through psychological support as part of his broader life purpose.
