Jacqueline Wait, NP, is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified (FNP-C) dedicated to providing compassionate, client-centered care. She grew up in Maryland and later moved to Tennessee to pursue her nursing education. From an early age, Jacqueline was known for her insatiable curiosity and a strong desire to make a difference in the world. Although she initially considered a career in law, she found her true calling in nursing after being inspired by the fascinating and impactful stories of a firefighter and EMT she once dated. This pivotal moment led her to transition from a desk job to the rewarding field of healthcare.
Jacqueline began her career as a Registered Nurse (RN) and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). With over two decades of experience in diverse care settings such as surgical units, labor and delivery, cancer care, and orthopedics, she developed a hands-on approach to service and a deep understanding of patient needs. She pursued her Family Nurse Practitioner certification at Gardner-Webb University, where she discovered the critical gaps in accessibility to mental health care. This realization inspired her to obtain dual certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Liberty University.
Jacqueline’s approach to care is rooted in her belief that mental health is a cornerstone of overall well-being. She is committed to helping her clients navigate life’s challenges, optimize their coping mechanisms, and achieve greater functionality. Clients often describe Jacqueline as fun-loving, loyal, open-minded, and deeply accepting of others. She views the therapeutic relationship as a partnership built on trust, empathy, and shared goals. Her personal faith provides her with a strong foundation, guiding her to lead with compassion and understanding.
For Jacqueline, nursing is not just a career but a calling. Her passion for helping others improve their mental health and achieve a better quality of life keeps her motivated every day. She believes that small acts of care and kindness can create ripples of positivity, making the world a better place. Above all, Jacqueline wants her clients to know one simple truth: she cares deeply about their well-being and is committed to walking alongside them on their journey to mental health and personal growth.
Outside of work, Jacqueline finds joy and balance in nature, whether she’s walking her dog, exploring trails, boating, skiing, camping, or playing pickleball. Indoors, she enjoys spending time with her family watching movies, reading, and tackling the occasional puzzle. She’s also an avid plant enthusiast, continually striving to keep her greenery thriving.
