Bachelor of Science, with an emphasis on Public Health Education
Taylor Alexander is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Born and raised in Southern California, Taylor embarked on her nursing journey out of a deep-seated desire to support and advocate for those facing health challenges in her own family.
Taylor earned her Bachelor of Science, with an emphasis on Public Health Education, from California State University San Bernardino. She then pursued her nursing degree at Western University of Health Sciences in their Master's Program, becoming a Registered Nurse (RN). Taylor completed her Master's in Nursing under the Ambulatory Track, further specializing in Psychiatry. Taylor went on to complete the Post-Master's Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and then achieved Board Certification by the ANCC as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Taylor's commitment to mental health advocacy was kindled by personal tragedy; the loss of a dear one to suicide and the witnessing of family members struggling with anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. These experiences have fueled her passion for providing non-judgmental support to those in the throes of a mental health crisis.
For Taylor, her client's goals and needs take precedence. She sees herself as a guide and professional educator, teaching clients about their diagnoses and empowering them to make informed decisions regarding their care. Taylor values the importance of active listening, ensuring her clients feel heard and supported throughout their mental health journey.
In her therapeutic practice, Taylor prefers to utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and grounding techniques. She remains steadfast in the field of mental health, cognizant of the ongoing need for constant support and care for those battling mental health illnesses. Her aim is to help individuals achieve emotional and cognitive stability, enabling them to lead the life they envision.
When not immersed in her professional life, Taylor enjoys penning fiction novels, some of which she has self-published on Amazon. Travel, particularly to Europe, is another passion of hers. She also dedicates her time to regular volunteer teaching work.
