Dr. Andrew Mendonsa, PsyD, is a dedicated clinical psychologist with a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and discover their strengths. With over two decades of experience in the mental health field, Dr. Mendonsa takes a compassionate, innovative, and solution-focused approach to therapy. Mendonsa's educational journey includes a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology and a Master of Arts from the California School of Professional Psychology, as well as an MBA from Texas A&M University. He further honed his expertise through a postdoctoral fellowship and residency at UC Davis in the Department of Behavioral Sciences. These diverse academic experiences have equipped him with a well-rounded perspective, blending psychological expertise with strategic problem-solving.

What initially drew Dr. Mendonsa to the field of psychology was a deeply personal experience growing up with an autistic sibling. This firsthand exposure to the complexities of human behavior and resilience inspired him to pursue a career dedicated to providing compassionate support and practical solutions. His journey has been shaped by a strong desire to help others overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.

Dr. Mendonsa believes that the most important aspect of therapy is creating a safe, judgment-free space where clients can openly explore their thoughts and feelings. He takes a strengths-based approach, helping individuals build on their inherent capabilities while providing the guidance and tools needed for meaningful progress. He is actively involved in Scouting America as a senior leader, mentoring and guiding young people through outdoor adventures and leadership development. Spending time in nature—whether hiking, camping, or simply enjoying its tranquility—helps him stay grounded and rejuvenated. He also enjoys creative pursuits such as writing and leading workshops, along with traveling and exploring new cultures to broaden his perspective.
