Briana Carbon received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Iona College.
Briana was raised in the Bronx by her parents, both of whom exhibited narcissistic qualities. This experience triggered “people pleaser” behavior in her, and she only became aware of it in graduate school. Her family’s history with mental health motivated her to become a therapist and assist others with their healing journeys.
Briana is a dedicated and empathetic mental health counselor with a passion for working with adolescents and adults. Her work is rewarding because it allows her to deeply connect with her clients to discover their true selves, feel heard, and experience desired change. It is important to her to provide a non-judgmental, safe space to allow her clients to heal and grow.
Briana’s combined approach of cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) encourages her clients to deal with intense emotions and restructure negative thoughts. The main goals of DBT are to teach people to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.
When she isn’t working, Briana enjoys trying new restaurants with her friends, traveling, collecting sneakers, and attending NBA games.
