Dr. Carmen Marcano-Davis, PhD, is a Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Journalism, a Master’s Degree in Psychology, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, all from Duquesne University. Her academic focus was grounded in existential and phenomenological philosophies, which continue to shape her practice today. Dr. Marcano-Davis has long been fascinated by the complexities of the human condition, inspired by her early studies in literature and philosophy. This passion led her to pursue a career dedicated to helping others understand themselves and navigate life’s challenges.

In her work, Dr. Marcano-Davis emphasizes the importance of building a strong therapeutic alliance, seeing it as the core of meaningful change. She meets clients with empathy and openness, creating a safe, judgment-free space for exploration and growth. Her approach includes psychodynamic techniques like transference interpretation, defense mechanisms insight, and dream interpretation, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Supportive Psychotherapy, and Narrative Therapy. She also brings her certification in yoga into her practice, incorporating Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and meditation to promote holistic well-being.

Born in Germany and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Marcano-Davis grew up in an environment that prioritized academics, athletics, and cultural engagement. This foundation laid the groundwork for her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth, both professionally and personally. Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys paddleboarding, playing pickleball, traveling, and teaching yoga. A lover of languages, she is fluent in Spanish and is currently working on mastering French. Dr. Marcano-Davis also founded a book club that has met monthly for 20 years, reflecting her love of reading and community. Additionally, she delights in cooking and baking, using culinary adventures as a way to connect with family and friends.
