Living aloha in sunny southern California, Cindy Illescas is a dual board-certified family and psychiatric nurse practitioner. She is also a certified nurse educator.

Prior to her career in health care, she used her business management degree to work in finance, real estate, and corporate contracts. She wanted to further live her purpose in serving others and returned to Azusa Pacific University to obtain a second bachelor and master degree in nursing as a family nurse practitioner. In her clinical residency with county hospitals she enjoyed working with underserved populations. Initially, her primary focus was internal and emergency medicine. Later returning to her alma mater once again, she obtained a post-masters certificate as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and nurse educator. Her specialties expanded to include emergency psychiatric medicine, substance use, and psychiatric care in the acute care and outpatient setting.

She works at two of Orange County’s top magnet-recognized trauma centers. Ms. Illescas’ approach to mental wellness is guided by her belief in holistic care.

Presently, she is focusing on her doctoral degree and supporting Happier Living’s motto of creating change for a happier and healthier community.
