Ph.D.: Clinical Science in Child & Adolescent Psychology
Michele Bechor, Ph.D., is a Licensed Psychologist and nationally certified (PSYPACT) in Psychology. She blends clinical science (e.g., scientifically backed approaches) with a warm, collaborative approach in therapy, helping clients achieve lasting behavioral change.
Dr. Bechor earned her Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. in Psychology from Florida International University. Her extensive experience, including postdoctoral residency where she completed intensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) training, further includes specialized, intensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT). With this intensive training, Michele helps both children, adults and families reduce problem behaviors and increase purpose and fulfillment as they explore their personal values.
Growing up in South Florida, Michele developed a non-judgmental stance towards those different from her and a passion for understanding behavior. Initially aspiring to be a pediatric neurologist, she shifted to psychology to explore how long-standing behaviors begin, can change and be shaped to last with the help of therapy.
Dr. Bechor coaches clients to bridge the gap between their current, undesired actions and desired, purposeful behaviors. She uses a non-judgmental, analytical approach to uncover patterns in emotions, thoughts, and actions. Her clients appreciate her ability to clarify disorder-driven and character-based actions; in other words, Michele coaches clients to differentiate between themselves and their disordered behaviors.
For Dr. Bechor, psychology is a source of privileged information gathering, continuous collaboration and purpose. She partners with clients to create fulfilling lifestyles by viewing thoughts, emotions, and actions as products of their environment, traits, and conditions, facilitating long-term behavior change.
Dr. Bechor’s approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and the scientist-practitioner model. Her experience with children and adolescents allows her to communicate complex ideas clearly, balancing warmth and structure in therapy.
