Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling
Natalie Hunter holds a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri and Arkansas, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California, and a National Certified Counselor.
She was drawn to the field because of her interest in emotions and behaviors and in helping people cope and heal from adversity. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy but has also been trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and has extensive training and experience in treating trauma. For Hunter, the most important aspect of working effectively together is creating a trusting therapeutic relationship. She makes this a priority with her clients.
Hunter grew up in southwest Missouri with a single mom and an older brother. She was painfully shy as a child but interested in everything, so she spent a lot of time just observing and people watching. Her mother was a teacher, so they didn't have a lot of money, but it was a happy childhood. Her mother passed on her passion for education, literature and music to her. Her mother had a long career helping the kids that no one else wanted to teach, and she modeled that helping mentality for Hunter.
When Hunter isn’t working, she loves writing poetry and journaling but also loves to relax on the couch and watch TV. She is studying history and pursuing a Master's degree in History at Glasgow University.
