Ana Lorena Paredes, MD, earned her medical degree at Universidad San Francisco in Quito, Ecuador. She completed her psychiatry training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Dr. Paredes feels honored to participate in her clients’ growing and healing processes and has always been interested in learning about and treating the invisible illnesses that are often overlooked. She has an interest in Meaning Centered Therapy, a type of existential psychotherapy.
She grew up in Ecuador’s capital, Quito, which sits high in the Andean foothills. In South America, mental health is less acknowledged and more stigmatized than in the United States, and Dr. Paredes always felt that she could make a difference, and this drew her to seek the best training.
When she isn’t working, Dr. Paredes loves spending time playing with her two young sons. She likes crafts, especially crocheting, knitting, and basic watercolors.
