David Jung was born in the Midwest and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. As an adolescent, he experienced depression due to life and weight issues and came to understand the potency in each of us to overcome. In college, he experienced issues with Asian American identity, which helped him to better understand people dealing with identity issues and experiences such as marginalization.
David has found that people who deal with mental health issues often have a feeling that they are not well understood, which makes him feel privileged to not only understand but also to help.
Potential clients should know that David favors empowerment and considers the therapeutic relationship to be one of collaboration and partnership. He takes a holistic approach to optimizing a client’s ability to improve, whether that involves finding the right type of therapy and/or medication. Whatever the approach, David likes to place the individual’s comfort level at the forefront and their experience as the centerpiece.
David received his Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Hunter College (City University of New York). He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and his Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty track from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He holds ANCC PMHNP board certification and a Certification in Telehealth, both from MUSC.
In his personal life, David has an interest in exercise and nutrition. He enjoys watching movies and sports, birding, and playing the electric guitar. He is also working on a Master’s degree in the philosophy of religion.
