Dr. Katherine Niedt, MD, MHA, is a Board-Certified specialist in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Born and raised in New York, Dr. Niedt was inspired by her father, a doctor, to pursue a career in medicine. This early exposure to the medical field, combined with a deep desire to connect with others, drew her to the field of psychiatry, where she cherishes the opportunity to truly get to know her patients and their unique stories.
Dr. Niedt’s academic journey began at Dartmouth College, where she laid the foundation for her medical career. She then earned her MD from St. George’s University in Grenada, followed by a General Psychiatry Residency and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Stony Brook University Hospital on Long Island, New York. In addition to her medical training, Dr. Niedt pursued a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Cornell University, further enhancing her ability to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system.
Dr. Niedt is known for her friendly, bubbly, and empathetic demeanor, which helps her create a warm and welcoming environment for her patients. She recognizes the importance of providing a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals feel comfortable sharing the details of their lives. In her practice, Dr. Niedt utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques and supportive psychotherapy to help her patients navigate their therapeutic journeys. Outside of work, Dr. Niedt enjoys spending time with her friends and family, staying active through exercise, and playing with her two corgis. These personal interests help her maintain a balanced life and bring a sense of joy and fulfillment that she carries into her professional life.
