Erika Simon is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Erika grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in her values like empathy, resilience, and the importance of connection. From a young age, she was drawn to helping others, whether through her involvement in social activities like cheerleading, volunteering, or serving as an altar server at church. These early experiences shaped her sense of community and the desire to uplift those around her, particularly in moments of vulnerability.
Erika’s journey into the mental health field began at the bedside as a Registered Nurse (RN). During her time as an RN, she realized that the most fulfilling part of her role went beyond providing physical care. It was the deep, human connections she built with her patients—their stories, struggles, and moments of vulnerability—that ignited her passion for mental health. She felt a strong calling to support individuals not just physically, but emotionally, helping them navigate the complexities of the mind and mental well-being.
This desire for deeper understanding and more specialized care led Erika to pursue further education at Walden University, where she earned her Master's in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. As a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she blends her clinical expertise with a compassionate, solution-focused approach to mental health care. Erika believes in providing holistic care that addresses the whole person, not just the symptoms.
At the core of Erika’s practice is her commitment to forming strong, trusting relationships with her clients. She views every client’s story as unique and takes the time to truly understand their individual needs. Her empathetic nature and attentive listening help create a safe and supportive space where clients feel valued and heard. Erika's goal is to empower her clients by providing personalized care, fostering resilience, and improving their overall quality of life.
What keeps Erika passionate about her role as a psychiatric nurse practitioner is the ability to form long-term connections with her patients. She thrives on supporting them through their mental health journeys, helping them build resilience and a greater sense of well-being. Her personal and professional background allows her to approach each patient with a deep sense of understanding, always providing care rooted in empathy and compassion.
Outside of work, Erika cherishes spending time with her family. They are her anchor, and she enjoys every moment with them, whether it’s going out to eat, watching movies, or bowling. She also values activities that allow her to unwind and recharge, recognizing the importance of self-care in maintaining balance.
