Dr. Jeff Simmons, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to supporting clients through life’s challenges with empathy, trust, and collaborative spirit. With a diverse background and a unique perspective, Dr. Simmons aims to help clients reach meaningful and lasting change by fostering an affirming and inclusive environment. He holds a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Diego, and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Boston College.

From an early age, Dr. Simmons was drawn to the idea of helping others, though the specific path was initially unclear. Through various life experiences and academic pursuits, he eventually discovered that psychology aligned perfectly with his passion for personal growth and his purpose in supporting others. His practice centers on creating an accepting and trusting space where clients feel comfortable exploring, overcoming, and navigating their unique journeys.

Dr. Simmons takes an integrative approach to therapy, using a range of evidence-based practices tailored to each client’s needs. His substantial experience includes working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, sleep issues, relationship concerns, substance use, and chronic illness or pain. In his sessions, he incorporates cognitive-behavioral therapies, emotion-focused techniques, somatic-based interventions, and mindfulness practices to promote healing and personal growth. He firmly believes that clients benefit most when they feel understood and accepted and when therapy becomes a place of trust where meaningful change can unfold.

Growing up in a small New England town between Boston and New York, Dr. Simmons faced prejudice and challenges due to a functional speech disorder and differences in appearance. These experiences cultivated a deep aversion to prejudice and privilege and fostered his appreciation for diversity and cultural differences. Later, his journey took him through various states and international settings, shaping his broad awareness and empathetic approach. Initially, he pursued a path in auto racing, seeking to inspire and entertain others through the thrill of the sport. However, financial challenges led him down a different road, ultimately driving him toward psychology, where he could channel his determination and resilience into helping others.

Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Simmons enjoys an active lifestyle, engaging in sports, skiing, and spending time outdoors. A lover of games and puzzles, he also appreciates time spent reading and playing card, board, and video games. He approaches life with curiosity, resilience, and thoughtfulness, bringing these same qualities to his therapeutic relationships.

In Dr. Simmons’ view, clients will care more about his knowledge and skills once they understand how much he cares. His work is inspired by a dedication to supporting others through transitions, helping them overcome obstacles, and empowering them to become the best version of themselves.
