Rikia Ancar, LMFT is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Texas and Louisiana. She earned her Master of Arts in Couple and Family Therapy from Adler University in Chicago, IL. Ms. Ancar is a Louisiana native and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Northwestern State University.
Ms. Ancar has experience working with a wide range of clients and areas of focus including depression, anxiety, and addiction/recovery. However, her speciality and passion is couples and family therapy. Ms. Ancar utilizes a Contextual Therapy approach and considers all clients in their family of origin context. Relational health starts or is hindered at home. Therefore, it is necessary to process and grow from past difficulty to have a healthy and fulfilling relationship. She also utilizes facets of CBT, DBT, and solution focused therapy to ensure clients develop appropriate coping skills to express and manage themselves outside of the therapy office.
Ms. Ancar enjoys spending time with her family and friends, vacationing (in a pre-COVID world), and her new puppy who is 6 months old. Ms. Ancar is always up for a good book recommendation and tries to read at least 2 books per month.
