Dr. David Halpern, MD is a board-certified Psychiatrist specializing in both adult and child/adolescent psychiatry. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Yeshiva University and his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College. Dr. Halpern completed his residency and fellowship in Psychiatry and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Additionally, he holds a Rabbinic Degree from Rabbi Isaac Elchonon Theological Seminary.

Dr. Halpern's initial draw to the field of psychiatry stemmed from his love for helping people and his pastoral background. He wanted to be someone who could provide therapeutic support to his patients in addition to medical care. He finds immense satisfaction in working as part of a team and educating others, making a positive impact on his patients' lives.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Dr. Halpern had a keen interest in psychology and the human mind from a young age. He witnessed friends and classmates struggling with mental health issues and substance use, which furthered his interest in understanding the complexities of the human psyche.

Dr. Halpern believes in connecting with his patients and using evidence-based practices to help them improve their mental health. He describes himself as interested, caring, and open to understanding the world around him. Dr. Halpern uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as his primary treatment approach. He believes that CBT can provide great insight for patients, and when it doesn't work initially, it can lead to further exploration and better treatment for patients who are resistant to it. Dr. Halpern views himself as a facilitator in the therapeutic process, empowering his patients to use their own skills and tools to better themselves.

In addition to his work, Dr. Halpern enjoys spending time with his family and going out to eat or to the movies.
