Melissa Cestro holds a Master of Social Work from CUNY-Hunter College and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from CUNY-Queens College.

Cestro utilizes mindfulness, CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), solution-focused therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when deemed appropriate. She is by her clients’ sides throughout their journeys, creating a nonjudgmental, safe space that encourages them to be as honest as they can be with her and with themselves.

Cestro is passionate about what she does because it is who she is. She values the ability to encourage the well-being of all, because everyone matters and should have access to mental healthcare.

Cestro grew up in an intact family in Queens. She is the eldest of three with two younger brothers. She has always found herself in the position of listening and hearing what others have to say. Her relationship with her grandparents initially called her to the field, recognizing challenges older adults faced in the United States. Her passion to work with others began then, and she continues her journey.

When she isn’t working, Cestro enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, meditating, watching trash TV and horror movies.
