Dr. Shariful A. Syed is a New York State native who completed his Medical Degree at SUNY Downstate Medical College, his Residency training at the University of Miami Hospital, and Child Psychiatry Fellowship at Stony Brook University Hospital, and Neuroscience Fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Syed loves being able to explore the frontiers of the unknown (aka the brain) with the mission of using any little discovery to help people develop the ability to engage in life to achieve well-being. Exercise and mindfulness seem absolutely key to him, and he thinks medications can be leveraged alongside biobehavioral techniques to get the best outcome possible. It’s undoubtedly hard work, but he appreciates the privilege of being in a position to offer support to others in a way that is difficult to do.
He enjoys being around dogs, enjoying the warm summer weather, listening to crickets at night, and going to the gym when he is not working. He also enjoys laughing and brings that quality to his work, which he believes adds a natural flow to the clinical care he provides.
