Clinician Spotlight - Maren Batts
Maren Batts knew from early on that she wanted to work in mental health. “I have always been curious about how people think and live,” she says. “I love hearing life stories.”
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with Happier Living, she gets to hear many clients’ stories. One of the biggest motivating factors for her is the organization’s mission to establish long-term relationships with motivated clients. “I love the opportunity to develop these relationships. I feel like the luckiest person to be able to hear these life stories and updates,” she says. “I love the long-lasting relationships, some now going on four years.” In Maren’s previous roles, she often would only get to see patients for a brief time. “I treasure being a witness to people’s changes and progress over the years.”
Maren also appreciates the way Happier Living trusts the clinicians to do what they do best, which is building and supporting clients. She also appreciates that there is strong support when needed in addition to the many opportunities for leadership and collaboration among the team. One of her favorite examples of the team approach is the weekly case conferences, which, she says, are such a nice way to connect and reflect with team members. “These meetings allow time for us to collaborate through tough cases and to share positive things happening for us at work and in our own lives. I feel so supported by our team.”
On her days off, Maren enjoys spending time exploring new towns and restaurants with her husband and children, hiking, reading stories with her kids, and going back to New Orleans to visit loved ones. She keeps her days balanced through exercising via HIIT classes and cardio.
Maren is accepting new patients in New York, California, and Louisiana.
