Clinician Spotlight - Mark Schlotterback

Dr. Mark Schlotterback decided to pursue a career in psychiatry during his psychiatry rotations in medical school. While on the rotations, he says he felt strong enthusiasm, interest, and vocational fulfillment.

That enthusiasm and satisfaction continues with his work at Happier Living. “I sincerely enjoy connecting with my clients and working with them to help them in any way I can,” he says. In addition, he feels fully supported by Happier Living’s leadership team and staff and appreciates the flexibility the company offers. “I enjoy having the ability to manage my own schedule, set my own hours, and have the flexibility of working remotely,” he says.

Outside of work, he enjoys exercising, hiking, reading, cooking, golfing, and watching football with his three cats Monte, Minnie, and Mo.

Dr. Schlotterback is trained in several modalities of psychotherapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Supportive Psychotherapy. He likes to take a multipronged approach. “I don’t often adhere to only one psychotherapeutic modality,” he says. “Rather, I aim to combine each of these modalities in various ways best suited to the individual needs of my clients.”

He enjoys collaborating with his clients to identify what their values are and to help them align their daily behaviors and routines with these values. Dr. Schlotterback considers himself privileged to have learned from many brilliant, wise, and caring individuals throughout his medical school and residency training. “I try my best to implement their teachings,” he says.
